Rain Barrels

Conserve Water & Reduce Stormwater Runoff

Rain Barrels make it simple to collect rain from your roof's gutter system and then use that water for your gardens and lawn. Using rain barrels also helps the environment, usually stormwater picks up debris and pollutants as it flows into the street drainage system that ultimately discharges to our streams and ponds. Using rain barrels to water plants during dry hot summers will make your plants happy and keep our waterbodies clean.

How much water can you collect? One inch of rain on a 1,000-square-foot rooftop yields 620 gallons of water. That's a lot of water! One full rain barrel will water a 200-square-foot garden. Besides helping the environment, you'll be saving on your water bill.

The Town of Oxford teams up with The Great American Rain Barrel Company each spring to offer residents a discount on the purchase of rain barrels. Check back early in the year for more details.
