Project Name: Shared Streets and Spaces Improvements
Project Description: The Oxford DPW received $400,000 in grant funding from the State for pedestrian safety improvements within the downtown corridor of Main Street. Work will take place at each midblock crossing and includes but is not limited to the installation of median pedestrian refuge islands, installation of rectangular rapid flash beacons (RRFBs), reconstruction of accessible ramps for ADA/MAAB compliance, and associated pavement markings.
Project Goals: Vastly improve the safety of pedestrian facilities within the downtown corridor to encourage walkability for people of all abilities and enhance economic activity as a result.
Location: Main Street from Fairlawn Avenue to Front Street
Construction Begins: September 2021
Construction Ends: June 2022
